Planning Aid provides free initial advice to all callers but more detailed help will only be provided to individuals and groups that meet our eligibility criteria. Initial advice may include providing up to 15 minutes of advice, signposting to another organisation or providing a list of planning consultants. Each enquiry is dealt with on its merits and Planning Aid staff will ask a series of questions to determine eligibility.
Individuals would normally qualify if they:
- Are receiving any means tested state income benefit, rely mainly on the retirement pension for income, or if their gross household income (eg income before tax) is less than £400 per week;
- Would not personally benefit from carrying out a development;
- Have not previously used paid professional help e.g. an architect, surveyor, solicitor or planning consultant on the matter in question.
Planning Aid will normally provide planning advice to the following organisations:
- Small charities, voluntary and community groups, and tenants' organisations with limited funds or free reserves;
- Social enterprises and other not-for-profit businesses.
